What your children may need from you - Infant Diaries

This is the first part of the series of posts 'What your Children may need from you.' This part is focused on infants up to the age of 5 years old. This post is for all the parents, especially Indians, out there with one child at the very least. Also, I am no parent an I am writing this post from the perspective of a child. I would refer to a child as she to neutralize the male dominance in the society, at least as much as I can. From the moment a child enters the world, the first thing she gets to know is Mother, for those who don't, I really wish you could. For a child, her mother is the anchor in a sea of unknown faces. If she is insecure, she would cry and we all know that her mother can bring her security. Food, sanitation or any other problem an infant may have, mother is the one she would call for. So what all would your child require of you? Let's take it step-by-step: 1. Your attention - Yes, your child would require your attention. She is very...

Just when I thought I got it...

Hey world, I woke up this morning to a shrill note of my mum's voice trying to tell me how much work has to be done by 7.30. Have you ever got that feeling that you are just not ready to get up yet? That it's too soon to get out of bed. Well, I had that same feeling, but I had to get up and iron dad's clothes for office. I so wanted to go back to sleep after I was done, but I knew that mum would just do the same thing as soon as I am asleep. So, I brushed my teeth, ate breakfast and with staggering steps got to my bed. Now imagine that after a hard nights work you get to sleep on your so nice and warm bed. But your parents are the type that can't see you sleep after 6.00 a.m. (in my case its 5.00 a.m. and I'm not joking). I was awake all night due to my work, and very tired. I tried again 4 times to sleep, every time I was asked to do something or the other. After 6th attempt I got so irritated that I just walked into the bathroom and took a really long show...

A night at Sangam, Allahabad

I had a chance to go to outer part of Allahabad District few months ago. I was to live there and become a teacher for class 8 to 10 at a private school. This was a good opportunity for me as I always wanted a chance to live in Allahabad, though I did get to be in the main city itself. With this I also had a chance to visit the very famous 'Sangam'. I heard a lot of things about Sangam from being very peaceful to being absolutely marvelous. I found all of those to be very true. The only thing is that the people have Made the rivers go so low that Sangam has lost its strength that I so much heard about. I got to see it from the new bridge on the Sangam. Here are a few pics that I have clicked...

Becoming a guiding light for someone...

Now, I don't wanna brag about myself, so I will say this beforehand, that this is about me but in a good way and not as arrogance and attitude. Yesterday I met a girl at my workplace. She is a new in-training colleague. Now this is not about what comes to your mind immediately. This girl is being mentioned because she wants to start up a blog. And I somehow got to know it while having a casual conversation. So we immediately got to talking about this crazy thing, and in a crazy way. I must say here that I love blogging, Though, I do not get much time to blog, you know being busy and all. the usual excuse. But I do love it. And whenever I can, I Blog. Now this girl wants to start up a blog and cannot decide what topic to start with, how to go about it, and rest of the things we all would have thought of when we planned on starting up a blog. I understood her situation because around 4 years ago I was in a similar situation, and there was nobody to help me out. Finding ...

Diary Entry: Learning from People around Us

Today I was at Mount Carmel College, Bangalore for a event. I could see all kinds of girls dressed in all kinds of dresses talking random shit showing unnecessary attitude. There was this old man, really old and had some problem as he was unable to walk straight. It looked like his whole body was shaking whenever he moved. His job was to pick-up litter all around the college. In his condition I would it was more than tiring and really difficult. I watched him for around 6 hours while I was there. I didn't  any girl giving him any respect or anything to eat, instead they would increase his work more by throwing the garbage randomly anywhere.

Neophobia: Fear of New things

Fear is something that might hinder your advances onto the next stage, be it anything, career, relationship, etc. Fear can be of many types, most of which have a cure. But there is one type of fear that dominates all other and, practically, has no cure at all. The Fear of New, also known as Neophobia. You will experience this type of fear at least once in your lifetime, even if you are the bravest of them all.

Respect or money, Which is important?

“A person should not run after money in life, it should be respect he must look for and try his hardest. Money will come eventually.” This was a statement said to me by one of my close friends. But is it really so, I wonder sometimes. In this era of materialistic life and money-minded people, can respect be earned if you don’t have money? I personally think otherwise. I have found through my experiences and by watching others lives, that when we have money, we get respect. And even if you earned good respect while you had money, once it’s gone, your earned respect will also start to fade away from people’s hearts. You would wonder why I would say this. So let me give you an example. One of my acquaintances, a very good guy by nature and character, worked in a firm. He earned enough to make his life comfortable. In his 8 months of working, and a year since I have known him, whenever a friend of his needed some help from him he would run to his aid. Be it money, time or his a...

Are short clothes really responsible for Rape in India?

This has been a debate amongst Indians since ever. People would say things like, 'She was wearing short clothes', 'she wasn't aware of surroundings', 'she went out late at night', etc. But is this really a reason, or is it just a way to say, 'We men have done nothing wrong.' It is high time we understand that it is the insatiability of males that is causing the rise in rape cases.

Nepal isn't the 'Big Himalayan Quake'

Even as the death toll from the 7.9 magnitude earthquake climbs to over 3,200 and stunned survivors struggle to come to terms with the magnitude of the disaster, experts say the worst is yet to come. The quake, which reduced large parts of Kathmandu to rubble, is not the 'great Himalayan quake' that the region has been bracing for.

A Tribute to Nepal Earthquake Victims

25th April, 2015 Nepal was hit by an Earthquake of Magnitude 7.8. The shockwaves were felt upto Delhi. I was sitting in my room in front of my laptop when suddenly I felt everything shaking. Though nothing happened in Delhi but I am sure people panicked. Everybody ran out of their houses as soon as possible. I heard women shouting to get everyone out, children were crying because they were scared. Even I was scared a bit. The shaking happened for 5 whole mins. Location Of Epicenter That feeling I cannot shake off. After a little while another tremor was felt, a little lower on Richter Scale. But scary all the same. Again I did not run out of my apartment. When everything settled down I switched on the news and found out that it was in Nepal where the Earthquake's Epicentre was located. Somewhere around 50 miles northwest of Kathmandu. Soon the pictures of destruction caused started appearing on the television. I soon switched off the news to lighten the mood, but it w...

Nostalgic.....

Yes, I am feeling nostalgic. Its been over 6 months since I have left home. Out here by myself, I miss Mom's cooking and I miss Dad's nagging in everything I did. I miss my Bro too. His usual fights and arguments. I miss the rain and I miss the cool sunny weather. I guess I miss a lot of things. But why is it that I still don't want to go home? I still feel that I am much better alone. Is it bad that I want to be away from my family? I don't know. But there's one thing for sure. It ain't time yet to return. Hold on and perserve. Just that I want to say this to all the ones I love. I miss u All.

Spirituality

"Spirituality  is the  praxis  and process of personal  transformation , either in accordance with traditional religious ideals, or, increasingly, oriented on subjective experience and psychological growth independently of any specific religious context. In a more general sense, it may refer to almost any kind of  meaningful  activity or blissful experience. There is no single, widely-agreed definition for the concept, and the term may be applied to a wide variety of practices. "

Few things you should avoid asking your relatives...

This is a time of great change in India. Orthodox thinking is being overlapped by the youthful competition in this age. People are accepting changes within others and are understanding a better sense of justice within one's conscience. But society changes very slowly. Even now we are afraid to truly open our heart to the world. So in this time of Great Cultural change, there are a few things that we have to keep in mind if want our relationships to survive longer. It is human nature that we want to more about people around us. But in this situation it becomes critical that we hold off on our curiosity. So here are few things that we shouldn't ask our relatives if we treasure them even a little bit.

Why does human mind despair?

Why do we falter? Why does our heart sometimes feel like losing hope? This is something all of us must have thought at least once in our lifetime. We always intend to do something in a way we planned. And we hope that the plan would be successful. We cling to a positive feeling called 'Hope'.  This gives us strength to move forward. We always proceed with a thought that the drama of life, for once, will go as we planned. We do things with the thought of future success. But is it ever the way we think, no, we hope it would be? Some of us have a strong heart. They do not falter. They do not lose hope. They do not have the fear of failure. And so they move with strong conviction. But most of us are afraid to lose hope. We hesitate while making decisions. We have doubts in our minds. Our hearts are weak and we cannot be convicted to one plan and one path. Thus we fail time and again. People with strong heart have attachments to something or someone. These attachm...

A tribute to Nance, The Cutest Kitten

make money online This article is written by my friend, Anjala Singh and I am just fulfilling a request she asked me. Everybody loves pets, right? Someone prefers a dog, someone a cat and some other like to keep a parrot. We have also seen people keeping an eagle, a pig, a rat, a chimpanzee and even a tiger too as a pet. Well, everyone has their own taste. But, what do we mean when we take up some random animal as pet? What I think is, a pet is like a child, one that loves you back as much, and sometimes even more, as you love it. You take care of it, love it, spend as much time as you like with it. You sometimes get angry at it too. But it never hates you or annoys you with its unnecessary yapping. They are the closest to you and understand what you are saying even if they don't speak you language.

Aashiq ki Aawaz-1
